CDC Final Update on Pork Listeria Outbreak [US]


US FlagUS/Atlanta: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ("CDC") LogoThe US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”), an Atlanta, Georgia based health promotion and disease prevention authority, issues its final update on the outbreak of Listeria infections linked to certain Vietnamese Pork products after at least four (4) people were hospitalized due to Listeria poisoning after consuming certain Pork products from Long Phung Food Products, a Houston, Texas establishment.

Additional information:
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”) reports this Listeria outbreak appears to now be over with cases reported from Illnesses in four (4) states. No deaths are known to have been caused by this outbreak.

Additional information is as follows:

  • On November 20, 2018, Long Phung Food Products in Houston, TX recalled certain Ready-to-Eat Vietnamese Pork products because they might be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, the bacteria that causes Listeria.
  • The recalled Vietnamese Pork products should no longer be available in stores, but may still be stored in home freezers.   • Four (4) sick people were reported from four (4) states. All four (4) people were hospitalized. No deaths were reported. Additional infections are possible but were not reported to local public health authorities.
  • As of January 29, 2019, this outbreak appears to be over.
