Australia FlagAustralia/Canberra: Son of a Plum Peach n Plum Sour Beer Recall [Australia]Moon Dog Brewing Pty Ltd, an Abbotsford, Victoria establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Son of a Plum branded Peach ‘n Plum Sour Ale Beer due to suspected fermentation malfunction and consequential excessive carbonation, increased inner bottle pressure and risk of laceration damage due to sudden, forceful and unexpected release of the bottle top, all serious health and safety hazards.

The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Alcoholic Beer products are subject to this recall:

  • Son of a Plum branded Peach ‘n Plum Sour Ale Beer, sold in 330 ml dark brown glass bottles with best-before dates of 15/08/2019, 16/08/2019 and 06/09/2019

==> No barcodes, UPCs, APNs or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the ACCC, this recall was initiated after it was found that the Alcoholic Beer products may have experienced a secondary fermentation in the bottle causing excessive carbonation with a risk that removal of the bottle cap could potentially result in injury. You should not open the bottles included in this recall but instead, should return the Beer product to the place of purchase, or to the Moon Dog brewery, for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household rubbish, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled alcoholic beverages, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the Alcoholic Beer products to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

Always use appropriate personal protective equipment (“PPE”) when working with dangerous glass situations, including gloves and protective eyewear.
