Rice Select branded Organic White Rice Recall [Canada]

Canada/Ottawa: Canadian Food Inspection Agency ("CFIA") Tree Of Life Canada ULC, a Surrey, British Columbia establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Rice Select branded Organic White Rice due to suspected insect contamination due to suspected Insect Fragment contamination and consequential risk of bacterial infection and illness as well as choking, oral injury, internal ingestion and GI tract laceration damage, all serious health and safety hazards.

Additional information:
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Organic White Rice products are subject to this recall:

  • Rice Select branded Organic White Rice, sold in one (1) kilogram containers with a batch/lot designation of 121R801 and a UPC of 00074401901419

According to the CFIA, Soup N Stuff has recalled certain batch/lots of Rice Select branded Organic White Rice products due to suspected risk of Insect Fragment contamination.

In general, if insect fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Organic White Rice products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
