Mannarich Food Siluriformes Fish Recall [US]

US FlagUS/Washington: Mannarich Food, Inc., the Importer of Record and a Toronto, Canada establishment, has recalled an estimated 145,245 pounds of Siluriformes Fish products that were not presented at the US point of entry for inspection, a serious health and safety hazard.

The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Siluriformes (Catfish) products were imported to the United States on various dates from June 26, 2017 through November 13, 2018. The products have a shelf life of two (2) years; all lots produced are included in the recall as follows:

  • Mannarich Fish Paste sold in 300-gram plastic containers
  • Mannarich Fish Paste with Black Moss sold in 300-gram plastic containers
  • Mannarich Fish Paste with Black Moss sold in 2-kilogram sealed plastic bags
  • Mannarich Fish Ball with Black Moss sold in 3-kilogram sealed plastic bags
  • Mannarich Fish Paste sold in 2-kilogram sealed plastic bags

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the USDA, the products were imported from Malaysia, a country that is not eligible to export Siluriformes to the United States. These items were shipped to a wholesale and retail locations nationwide. The problem was discovered on November 19, 2018 by FSIS through routine monitoring of eligibility of imported products.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Siluriformes, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
