Kimberly-Clark Kotex Sleek Tampon Recall [US]

US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Logo - Kimbery-ClarkKimberly-Clark Corporation, an Irving, Texas establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of U by Kotex Sleek Tampons due to suspected risk of product disintegration incomplete removal upon use, with consequential risk of bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications including Toxic Shock Syndrome, all serious health hazards.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Tampon products are subject to this recall:

  • U by Kotex Sleek Tampons, Regular Absorbency, sold in 3-count packages, 18 count packages, 34 count packages and 34-count multipack Tampons

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, Kimberly-Clark has received reports from consumers of the U by Kotex Sleek Tampons, Regular Absorbency, unraveling and/or coming apart upon removal, and in some cases causing women to seek medical attention to remove tampon pieces left in the body. There also have been a small number of reports of infections, vaginal irritation, localized vaginal injury, and other symptoms.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Tampons, please do not use them. Instead, return the Tampons to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency or suspect you might have Toxic Shock Syndrome, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to handle poisonings and/or Sepsis.
