US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Suya Barbecue Seasoning Recall [US]Accra Super Market, a Worcester, Massachusetts establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Suya Barbecue Seasoning products due to undeclared Peanuts, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Barbecue Seasoning products are subject to this recall:

  • Home Fresh Foods Suya Barbecue Seasoning, sold in 0.53-pound (240 gram), clear plastic packages with a batch/lot designation of EK 08 17, an expiration date of 08/31/2020 and a UPC of 6033000120298.

According to the FDA, this recall was initiated after routine testing conducted by the State of New York Department of Agriculture and Markets found undeclared Peanuts in the Barbecue Seasoning product.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Barbecue Seasoning products and could be allergic to their Peanut ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
