The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Chocolate Milk products are subject to this recall:

  • Hiland Dairy branded Premium Whole Chocolate Milk, sold in one-half gallon plastic jugs with a plant code of 29-162, a sell-by date of December 13, 2018 and a UPC of 0-7206000128-0

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, Hiland Dairy has recalled certain batch/lots of half-gallon Premium Whole Milk Chocolate produced at the Kansas City, Missouri facility, over concerns the products may actually contain Eggnog that could affect those individuals that have sensitivity to Egg allergen. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to Eggs run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. No illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported at this time.

The affected Whole Chocolate Milk products were sold and distributed at retailers in the Kansas City metropolitan area including Topeka, Kansas and St. Joseph, Missouri.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Premium Whole Chocolate Milk due products and could be allergic to their Egg ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
