US FlagUS/Washington: Lifetone Technology Inc., an Oklahoma City, Oklahoma establishment, recalls an estimated 10,000 Lifetone Technology branded Bedside Fire Alarm and Clocks due to suspected operational failure and possible resultant injury or death in the event of a fire.

Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves certain Lifetone HLAC151 Bedside Fire Alarms and Clocks with serial numbers ranging from AC160600001 through AC160604102 and AC170100001 through AC170106030. The serial number is printed on the left side of the silver sticker on the bottom of the unit.

  • The recalled Bedside Fire Alarm and Clocks are assistive alerting devices intended for in-home use by individuals with hearing loss. Each white, rectangular Clock measures approximately 8.5 inches wide by 4.2 inches high by 4.5 inches wide and have the brand, “Lifetone” printed on the front of the unit and a digital display with the date, time and type of emergency. There is a large black dome-shaped microphone on the top left of the alarm.

The Bedside Fire Alarm and Clocks are designed to detect the T3 emergency signal given by existing Smoke Alarms. When the T3 signal from a smoke alarm is detected, the Alarm signals at a lower frequency, which may be better heard by individuals with mild to severe hearing loss. The Bedside Fire Alarms also give spoken emergency signals, “FIRE GET OUT” in both English and Spanish. Defective units continue to sound a low frequency emergency audio signal and spoken signal “FIRE GET OUT” in English and Spanish but the optional bed shaker, if attached, will not operate.

According to the CPSC, the recalled Bedside Fire Alarms and Clocks can fail to operate and fully alert consumers to a fire.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Bedside Fire Alarms and Clocks, please do not use them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
