18th Street Deli Chicken Burrito Recall [US]

US FlagUS/Washington: NuVue Foods, a Hamtramck, Michigan establishment, recalls an estimated 268 pounds of ready-to-eat (“RTE”) 18th Street Deli branded Chicken Burrito products due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Egg, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Chicken Burrito products were manufactured on October 31, 2018 and are subject to this recall:

  • 18th Street Deli Chicken Burrito products, sold with expiration date codes marked as “EXP 11/12/18” or “EXP 11/14/2018” and an establishment number of “P-22061” marked inside the USDA mark of inspection. The Chicken Burritos were shipped to retail locations including vending machines in Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the USDA, this recall was initiated on November 9, 2018 after the firm received a consumer complaint. A subsequent investigation establishment produced “18th Street Deli Farmers Burritos”, containing eggs, which were mistakenly labeled as “18th Street Deli Chicken Burrito”.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Chicken Burrito products and could be allergic to their Egg ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them. Instead, return the product to the distributor or wholesaler where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.
