The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Pork products are subject to this recall:

  • Ganaderos Borges Pork Patties For Institutional Use Only, sold in ten (10)-pound cardboard boxes containing 54 three (3) ounce pieces with the Ganaderos Borges, Inc. logo and stamped, a production date code of 26 OCT 2018 and an expiration date of 16/11/18.

According to the USDA, the Pork Patty products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. M32170” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to institutional locations in Puerto Rico.

The problem was discovered, and FSIS was notified, on November 2, 2018 when the firm received a consumer complaint from a school that received the product. While the product was distributed to schools, it resulted from a commercial sale and was not part of food provided by the USDA for the National School Lunch Program.

In general, if plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Pork Patty products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation.
