According to the USDA, the Chicken products subject to recall bear establishment number, “EST. 1381” on the side panel of the box. These items were shipped to retail locations US nationwide.

This recall was initiated after the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services tested retail packages of Nature Raised Farms Organic Gluten Free Grilled Chicken Strips produced by Suzanna’s Kitchen, Inc. and found concentrations of Thallium in the food product. The concentration levels do not present an immediate health hazard. The FSIS, however, is recommending this recall out of an abundance of caution because prolonged ingestion of contaminated product in sensitive populations could cause some health effects.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”) reports that Thallium can affect your nervous system, lung, heart, liver and kidney if large amounts are eaten or drunk for short periods of time. Temporary hair loss, vomiting, and diarrhea can also occur and death may result after exposure to large amounts of thallium for short periods. Thallium can be fatal from a dose as low as one (1) gram.

For more information about Thallium, please consult the CDC Web site here:
