US FlagUS/Silver Spring: New Seasons Market Hot & Sour Broth Recall [US]New Seasons Market, a Portland, Oregon establishment, recalls an estimated 193 jars of New Seasons Market branded Hot & Sour Broth due to undeclared Soy, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Broth products are subject to this recall:

  • New Seasons Market branded Hot & Sour Broth, sold in 24-ounce glass jars; affected batch/lots: all current production codes with a UPC of 840600108672

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. Additional images of the recalled Broth products can be found on the Web site above.

According to the FDA, this recall was initiated after it was discovered that the Broth contains Soy but was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of Soy. The product contains Tamari sauce, an ingredient made from Soy Beans.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Broth products and could be allergic to their Soy ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
