The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Baked Goods are subject to this recall:

  • Shirley’s Chocolate Whoopie Pie, sold in 16-ounce, clear plastic packages marked with a wrap around “Weis” label with a UPC of 4149710692

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, he recall was initiated after it was discovered that the peanut-containing product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of peanuts. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the company’s production and packaging processes.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Chocolate Whoopie Pies and could be allergic to their Peanut ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
