Sirob Imports, Inc., a Paterson, New York establishment is recalling certain batch/lots of Corrado, Orlando Imports, Nouri’s Syrian Bakery, Mediterranean Specialty Foods brand and Butera Fruit Market branded Curry Powder due to suspected elevated levels of Lead, and consequential risk of ingestion, developmental delays, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Curry Powder Spices are subject to this recall:
- The recalled Curry Powder products were packaged and sold in 8-ounce and 16-ounces plastic containers and labeled with the following brand names:
- Corrado branded Curry Powder, sold in 8-ounce containers with a UPC of 0 12729 01102 and in 16-ounce containers with a UPC of 0 12729 01100 7
- Orlando Imports branded Curry Powder, sold in 16-ounce containers with a UPC of 0 53760 45255 8
- Nouri’s Syrian Bakery branded Curry Powder, sold in 8-ounce containers with a UPC of 0 12729 01102 1 and in 16-ounce containers with a UPC of 0 1279 0110 7
- Mediterranean Specialty Foods branded Curry Powder, sold in 8-ounce containers with a UPC of 0 12729 01102 1
- Butera Fruit Market branded Curry Powder, sold in 8-ounce containers with a UPC of 0 12729 45273 2
The recalled Curry product was labeled with the following batch/lot codes: GER302181, GER405081, GER403281, GER306181, GER104281, GER209081, GER301281, GER403281, GER505181, GER406181, GER504181, GER108081, GER106281, GER205181, GER309281, GER503281, GER306181, GER503081, GER302181.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.
According to the FDA, this recall was initiated after FDA sampling found elevated levels of lead in the product. The product sampling was conducted as a result of a consumer complaint regarding elevated blood lead levels in a child. The recalled product has not been definitively linked to this event but the investigation is ongoing.

If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Curry Powder products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Spices to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
