Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Liquorice Slice Treats are subject to this recall:

  • Source Day Natural Treasures Dried Liquorice Slice Treats, sold in 16-ounce (454 gram) plastic packages with no expiration date nor UPC listed. The recalled Liquorice products were made in China and known to have been distributed in New York City.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, the recall was initiated after routine sampling by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis by the Department’s Food Laboratory Personnel revealed the presence of Sulfites in the product, which were not declared on the label.

The consumption of 10 mg of Sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some people with Asthma. Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain Sulfite-sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 mg or more of the allergen.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Liquorice Slice Treats, and could be allergic to their Sulfite ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
