US FlagUS/Washington: Whole Foods Market Chicken Salad Recall [US]GH Foods CA, LLC, a Sacramento, California establishment, recalls an estimated 940 pounds of Whole Foods Market and generic branded Ready-To-Eat Salads with Chicken products that contain a corn ingredient that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes and Salmonella with consequential risk of both Gram-positive bacterial infection and Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following ready-to-eat Chicken Salads, produced on various dates ranging from October 9, 2018 to October 13, 2018, are subject to this recall:

  • 365 By Whole Foods Market BBQ Style Chopped Salad with Chicken, sold in 10-ounce clear plastic clamshell packages with best-if-sold-by dates ranging from 10/17/18 to 10/20/18
  • 365 By Whole Foods Market Chicken Fajita Salads, sold in 8-ounce clear plastic clamshell packages with best-if-sold-by dates ranging from 10/17/18 to 10/20/18.
  • BBQ Style Salad Kit with White Chicken, sold in 6-pound bagged kits with use-by dates ranging from 10/17/18 to 10/22/18
  • Santa Fe Style Salad with Chicken, sold in 9.75-ounce clear plastic clamshell packages with best-if-sold-by dates ranging from 10/17/18 to 10/18/18.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the USDA, the Salads subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. P-39994” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations in California.

The problem was discovered on October 16, 2018 when GH Foods CA, LLC received notification that the corn used in the production of these ready-to-eat Salads containing Chicken was being recalled by its corn supplier due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes and Salmonella contamination.

If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Chicken Salads, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
