Stinger branded Insect Zapper Recall [US]


US FlagUS/Washington: Stinger Insect Zapper Recall [US]Kaz USA Inc., a Marlborough, Massachusetts establishment recalls an estimated 72,000 Stinger branded Insect Zappers due to suspected component detachment and consequential risk of electric shock, burns and property damage, all serious health and safety hazards.

Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves certain Stinger BK series Insect Zapper electric insect/mosquito zappers including the Stinger Insect Zapper (Model BK 110v3), the Stinger 3-in-1 Insect Zapper (Model BK310v3) and the Stinger 5-in-1 Insect & Mosquito Zapper (Model BK510v3).

The recalled Insect Zappers are black or gray plastic and stand or hang vertically. Each of the Insect Zapper units measure approximately 19 inches high and 6 inches wide and require an extension cord to operate outside. The recalled models have codes ending in “YTG” and the phrase, “Made in China” printed on the silver label on the bottom of the device, as follows:

  • Stinger 5-in-1 Insect & Mosquito Zapper, sold with a model number of BK510v3 (ULG510YTG)
  • Stinger 3-in-1 Insect Zapper, sold with a model number of BK310v3 (ULG310YTG)
  • Stinger Insect Zapper, sold with a model number of BK110v3 (ULG110YTG)

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CPSC, the insect kill grid component of the recalled Stinger BK series Insect Zapper products can detach inside the housing, posing a shock hazard. Kaz has received three (3) reports of units exhibiting internal grid detachment. At the time of this notification, no injuries had yet been reported.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Stinger Insect Zappers, please do not use them. Instead, kindly unplug the Zappers and contact Kaz to return the product for a full refund.
