US FlagUS/Washington: Cargill Ground Beef Recall [US]Cargill Meat Solutions, a Fort Morgan, Colorado establishment, recalls an estimated 132,606 pounds of Ground Beef Products due to suspected risk of Escherichia coli (“E.coli”) O26 contamination and consequential risk of Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the USDA, the Ground Beef Products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 86R” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations nationwide.

On Aug. 16, 2018, US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”) was notified of an investigation of E. coli O26 illnesses. FSIS, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”) as well as state public health and agriculture partners determined that Raw Ground Beef was the probable source of the reported illnesses. The epidemiological investigation identified seventeen (17) illnesses and one (1) death with illness onset dates ranging from July 5 to July 25, 2018.

If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer, distributor or wholesaler, as applicable, for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Ground Beef Products, please do not sell, serve or consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the distributor or wholesaler where you purchased it for a full refund.
