US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Steve's Real Food Pet Food Recall [US]Steve’s Real Food, a Cottonwood, Utah establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Pet Food products due to suspected risk of Listeria monocytogenes contamination with consequential risk of Gram-negative bacterial infection as well as Salmonella contamination with consequential risk of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Pet Food products are subject to this recall:

  • Steve’s branded Real Food Turducken Recipe/5# Pet Food, sold with a batch/lot of J155, a best-by date of 6/4/19 and a UPC of 6-91730-15304-5
  • Quest branded Emu Diet/2# Pet Food, sold with a batch/lot of B138, a best-by date of 8/18/19 and a UPC of 6-91730-17103-2
  • Quest branded Beef Diet/2# Pet Food, sold with a batch/lot of A138, a best-by date of 8/18/19 and a UPC of 6-91730-17101-8

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, this recall was being initiated after Steve’s Real Food was notified by the Washington Department of Agriculture that collected samples tested positive for Salmonella and/or Listeria monocytogenes. As of the date of the original recall notification, no pet or human illnesses from this product have been reported.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm pet food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect products.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Pet Foods, please do not feed them to your pet(s). Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund. Wash down all prep surfaces, serving implements and serving bowls with a bleach/water mixture; rinse well with lots of hot soapy water.
