US FlagUS/Washington: Caito Foods Derby City Chicken Salad Recall [US]Caito Foods, LLC., an Indianapolis, Indiana establishment, recalls an estimated 242 pounds of Fully Cooked Derby City Chicken Salad due to undeclared Walnuts, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following ready-to-eat, Fully Cooked Derby City Chicken Salad products were produced on August 31, 2018 and are subject to this recall:

  • Derby City Chicken Salad WITHOUT Walnuts, sold in 15-ounce plastic clamshell packages with batch/lot code of GHMW 243 03 and a sell-by date of 09/04/18

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Chicken Salads can be found on the Web site above.

According to the USDA, the products subject to recall bear establishment number “P-39985” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio.

The problem was discovered after the firm received a consumer complaint.

Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.
