Canada/Ottawa: Canadian Food Inspection Agency ("CFIA") Jasmine Foods, a Vancouver, British Columbia establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Jasmine Foods branded Deglet Noor Dates due to suspected Insect Fragment contamination and consequential risk of bacterial infection and illness as well as choking, oral injury, internal ingestion and GI tract laceration damage, all serious health and safety hazards. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Dates are subject to this recall:

  • Jasmine Foods branded Deglet Noor Dates, sold in 908 gram packages with a best-before date of 12/2019 with a batch/lot of SP90850/17 and a UPC of 6 90813 11158 3

According to the CFIA, Jasmine Foods has recalled certain batch/lots of Deglet Noor Dates due to suspected risk of Insect Fragment contamination

In general, if insect fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Dates, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
