US FlagUS/Washington: Otto’s Old-Fashioned Quality Bologna Recall [US]StoneRidge Wholesale Division LLC., a Wautoma, Wisconsin establishment, recalls an estimated of 656 pounds of fully cooked, not shelf stable ready to eat Otto’s Old-Fashioned Quality branded Pork and Beef Bologna products due to undeclared Sodium Erythorbate and Sodium Nitrite, both known allergens, sources of dietary intolerance and possible triggers of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Pork and Beef Bologna products are subject to this recall:

  • Otto’s Old-Fashioned Quality branded Ring Bologna, sold in 14-ounce vacuum-sealed packages with a batch/lot code of 18131 and a sell-by date of 08/09/2018
  • Otto’s Old-Fashioned Quality branded Garlic Ring Bologna, sold in 14-ounce vacuum-sealed packages with a batch/lot code of 18131 and a sell-by date of 08/09/2018

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Bologna products can be found on the Web site above.

According to the USDA, the Bologna products subject to recall were produced on May 11, 2018, packaged on May 15, 2018 and bear establishment number “EST. 33989” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to a retail location in Wisconsin.

The problem was discovered on August 4, 2018 when a US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”) consumer safety inspector received a complaint from a consumer who purchased the product.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Pork and Beef Bologna products and could be allergic to their Sodium Erythorbate and/or Sodium Nitrite ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.
