US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Seattle Sourdough & Franz Premium Pub Bun Recall [US]Portland French Bakery, a Portland, Oregon establishment, recalls an estimated 26,635 units of Seattle Sourdough Pub Buns and an estimated 8,022 units of Franz Premium Pub Buns due to undeclared Soy, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Pub Bun Baked Goods are subject to this recall:

  • Franz Premium Pub Buns, sold in 12-pack poly bags with a net weight of 32 ounces, best-before date codes ranging from JUL-03-18 to JUL-31-18 with a UPC of 0-72220-70218-7
  • Seattle Sourdough Pub Buns, sold in 6-pack poly bags with a net weight of 16 ounces, best-before date codes ranging from JUL-03-18 to JUL-31-18 with a UPC of 0-72220-10164-5

According to the FDA, a labeling problem was discovered during a label and packaging review by firm. The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the Pub Buns containing Soy was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of Soy.

The recalled Pub Bun were distributed in Alaska, California, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington and Utah through United States Bakery distribution systems from 6/24/18 to 7/17/18.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Pub Buns and could be allergic to their Soy ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
