Canada/Ottawa: Sunny Fruit brand Organic Fig Recall [Canada]Farm Boy 2012 Inc., a Ottawa, Ontario establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Sunny Fruit branded Organic Figs due to suspected insect fragment contamination and consequential risk of bacterial infection, internal laceration, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Organic Fig products are subject to this recall:

  • Sunny Fruit branded Organic Figs, sold in 250 gram (5 by 50 gram) packages, with a best-before date code of 19 MR 18, a batch/lot designation of 350020119/1-02-903 and a UPC of 8 42515 01016 3

According to the CFIA, Farm Boy 2012 has recalled certain batch/lots of Sunny Fruit branded Organic Figs due to suspected insect fragment contamination. You should neither serve nor consume the Organic Fig products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Organic Fig products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
