US FlagUS/Washington: BRP Can-Am Outlander and Renegade ATV Recall [US]Bombardier Retail Products (“BRP US”), a Sturtevant, Wisconsin establishment, recalls an estimated 13,300 Can-Am Outlander and Renegade All-Terrain Vehicles (“ATVs”) due to suspected fuel spray and consequential risk of fire, burns and property damage, all serious health and safety hazards.

Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves model year 2018 Can-Am Outlander and Renegade All-Terrain Vehicles (“ATVs”) sold in a variety of colors/color schemes.

The brand, “Can-Am” and the model name are printed on the side panels of each of the ATVs. The vehicle identification number (“VIN”) is printed on the frame under the seat in the middle and on the frame behind the right front wheel. The following models are included in the recall (in alphabetical order):

  • Outlander 450, 570 and 650, sold in Red and Squadron Green color schemes
  • Outlander 6X6 DPS 650, sold in a Squadron Green color scheme
  • Outlander 6X6 XT 1000, sold in a Breakup Country Camo color scheme
  • Outlander DPS 450, 570, 650, 850 and 1000R, sold in Flat Black, Breakup Country Camo, Orange Crush and Squadron Green color schemes
  • Outlander DPS LE 570, sold in Flat Black, Breakup Country Camo, Orange Crush and Squadron Green color schemes
  • Outlander MAX 450 and 570, sold in Brush Aluminium and Red color schemes
  • Outlander MAX DPS 450, 570 and 650, sold in Orange Crush and Squadron Green color schemes
  • Outlander MAX LTD 1000R, sold in a Midnight blue color schemes
  • Outlander MAX WIN 650 and 850, sold in White color schemes
  • Outlander MAX XT 570, 650, 850 and 1000R, sold in Breakup Country Camo, Brush Aluminium, Flat Black, Intense Red and Pure Magnesium color schemes
  • Outlander MAX XT LE 650, sold in Brush Aluminium, Flat Black, Intense Red and Pure Magnesium color schemes
  • Outlander MAX XTP 850 and 1000R, sold in Black color schemes
  • Outlander MOS 450, 570 and 1000R, sold in Breakup Country Camo color schemes
  • Outlander WIN 650 and 850, sold in White color schemes
  • Outlander XT 570, 650, 850 and 1000R, sold in Breakup Country Camo, Brush Aluminium, Intense Red and Pure Magnesium color schemes
  • Outlander XTP 850 and 1000R, sold in Black color schemes
  • Outlander XXC 1000R, sold in Black, Sunburst Yellow/Black/ Hyper Silver color schemes
  • Renegade 570, 850 and 1000, sold in Red color schemes
  • Renegade XXC 850 and 1000R, sold in Red/White/Black color schemes

According to the CPSC, fuel can spray from the fuel tank when opening the gas cap, posing a fuel leak and fire hazard. The firm has received six (6) reports of fuel spraying out of the fuel tank. No injuries or fires have been reported.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled All-Terrain Vehicles, please do not use them. Instead, kindly contact an authorized BRP Can-Am ATV dealer for a free repair. BRP is contacting all known (i.e., registered) purchasers directly.
