US flagUS/Washington: People’s Sausage Company, a Los Angeles, California establishment, recalls an estimated 13,554 pounds of Jerky and Meat Stick products due to suspected production without an approved voluntary grant of inspection, a serious health hazard.

The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Jerky and Meat Stick products are subject to this recall:

  • Montrail Bison Wild Sticks Hot and Spicy, sold in 4-ounce plastic bags with use-by dates ranging from May 3, 2018 to June 15, 2020.
  • Montrail Bison LLC Elk Jerky Lemon Chile, sold in 3-ounce plastic bags with use-by dates ranging from May 3, 2018 to June 15, 2020.
  • Montrail Bison LLC. Elk Jerky Teriyaki, sold in 3-ounce plastic bags with use-by dates ranging from May 3, 2018 to June 15, 2020.
  • Montrail Bison Elk Jerky Sweet and Spicy, sold in 3-ounce plastic bags with use-by dates ranging from May 3, 2018 to June 15, 2020.
  • Montrail Bison Elk Jerky Old Fashioned, sold in 3-ounce plastic bags with use-by dates ranging from May 3, 2018 to June 15, 2020.
  • Montrail Bison LLC. Bison Jerky Lemon Chile, sold in 3-ounce plastic bags with use-by dates ranging from May 3, 2018 to June 15, 2020.
  • Montrail Bison LLC. Bison Jerky Teriyaki, sold in 3-ounce plastic bags with use-by dates ranging from May 3, 2018 to June 15, 2020.
  • Montrail Bison LLC. Bison Jerky Sweet and Spicy, sold in 3-ounce plastic bags with use-by dates ranging from May 3, 2018 to June 15, 2020.
  • Montrail Bison LLC. Bison Jerky Old Fashioned, sold in 3-ounce plastic bags with use-by dates ranging from May 3, 2018 to June 15, 2020.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. Additional images of the recalled Jerky can be found on the Web site above.

According to the USDA, thee products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 4160” inside the triangle shaped USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations in Montana.

The problem was discovered on June 22, 2018 during an FSIS investigation.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Jerky and Meat Stick products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
