US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Al Reef branded Dried Apricot Recall [US]Golden Star Wholesale, a Troy, Michigan establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Al Reef Dried Apricots due to undeclared Sulfites, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Dried Apricot products are subject to this recall:

  • Al Reef branded Dried Apricots Sour, sold in 12-ounce clear plastic containers and distributed from retail stores in FL KY, MA, MO, OH, MI, MN, NY, NC, OR, VA, WI, TX between November 2017 and May 2018.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, this recall was initiated after routine sampling of the product by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets food inspectors and subsequent analysis by Department’s food laboratory personnel revealed the presence of undeclared sulfites in the Al Reef Dried Apricot Sour packages that did not declare sulfites on the label.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Al Reef branded Dried Apricots and could be allergic to their Dried Apricot ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
