Additional information:

Among the 44 recalls the NHTSA has announced this June comes news of the following:

Navistar, Inc. (“Navistar”) has recalled an estimated 7,859 model year 2018-2019 IC Bus CE and 2019 IC Bus RE School Buses. The release mechanism on the emergency windows may be difficult to open in an emergency situation. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (“FMVSS”) number 217, “Bus Emergency Exits and Window Retention and Release.”

According to the NHTSA, if extra force is needed to pull the release handle, exit of the vehicle may be hindered, increasing the risk of injury in the event of an emergency.

Navistar will notify registered owners, and dealers will apply dry lubricant to the latch assembly, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin July 13, 2018. Owners may contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825. Navistar’s number for this recall is 18508.
