Canada/Ottawa: Medline Cosmetic Product Recall [Canada]Medline Canada, Corp. a Milton, Ontario establishment, recalls an estimated 44,000 Medline Cosmetic products due to suspected Burkolderia cepacia contamination and consequential risk of gram negative bacterial infection and illness, all serious health hazards.

Health Canada/Santé Canada (“HCSC”) reports this recall involves various Medline Remedy Cosmetic products as identified below. The affected products are sold in white packaging with batch/lot numbers printed on the bottom of each dispensing bottle as follows (in alphabetical order):

  • Phytoplex Hydrating Cleanser No Rinse Foam Unscented, sold in four (4) ounce bottles with a product code of MSC092104UNSC and a batch/lot designation of M07514
  • Phytoplex Hydrating Cleanser No Rinse Foam, sold in eight (8) ounce bottles with a product code of MSC092108 and batch/lot designations of M07839, M07840 and M07842
  • Phytoplex Hydrating Cleanser No Rinse Foam, sold in four (4) ounce bottles with a product code of MSC092104 and batch/lot designations of M07558, M07559 and M07560
  • Phytoplex Hydrating Cleanser Shampoo Body Wash Gel, sold in eight (8) ounce bottles with a product code of MSC092008 and batch/lot designations of M05879 and M06135
  • Phytoplex Hydrating Cleanser Shampoo Body Wash Gel, sold in four (4) ounce bottles with a product code of MSC092002 and batch/lot designations of M05879 and M07925
  • Phytoplex Hydrating Cleanser Shampoo Body Wash Gel, sold in two (2) ounce bottles with a product code of MSC092004 and a batch/lot designation of M07157
  • Phytoplex Hydrating Cleanser Spray, sold in four (4) ounce bottles with a product code of MSC092204 and batch/lot designations of M05864 and M06818
  • Phytoplex Nourishing Skin Cream, sold in sixteen (16) ounce bottles with a product code of MSC092416 and a batch/lot designation of M06416
  • Remedy Essentials Cleanser No Rinse Foam, sold in eight (8) ounce bottles with a product code of MSC092FBC08 and batch/lot designations of M05703, M06691 and M07476
  • Remedy Essentials Cleanser No Rinse Foam, sold in four (4) ounce bottles with a product code of MSC092FBC04 and a batch/lot designation of M05702

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to Health Canada, the recalled Cosmetic products may be contaminated with the bacteria Burkolderia cepacia. This bacteria can pose a risk of infections to people, especially those with weakened immune systems. Contamination of the bacteria has only been confirmed for the Remedy Essentials Cleanser No Rinse Foam.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Cosmetic products, please do not use them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm Cosmetic poisoning or contamination.

Is desired, disposal of any of these Cosmetic products must be in accordance with local municipal hazardous waste requirements to protect your personal safety, the local drinking water supply and the ecosystem.
