Canada/Ottawa: Dollarama Oball Rattle Toy Recall [Canada]Dollarama, a Montreal, Quebec establishment, recalls an estimated total of 39,482 Oball Rollin’ Rainstick and Oball 2-IN-1 Roller Rattle Toys due to suspected component detachment and consequential plastic fragment contamination and consequential risk of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion and GI tract laceration damage, all serious health and safety hazards. Health Canada/Santé Canada (“HCSC”) reports the following Rattle Toys are subject to this recall:

  • Oball branded Rollin’ Rainstick Rattle Toys, sold with a SKU number of 063383 and a UPC of 834282000300
  • Oball branded 2-IN-1 Roller Rattle Toys, sold with a SKU number of 3063447 and a UPC of 834282010910

Please consult the photograph above for details of the product’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Rattle Toys can be found on the Web site above.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to Health Canada, if the ball structure were to be damaged, pieces of the ball could be pulled off therefore posing a choking hazard to young children. As of May 14, 2018, the company has received two incidents with no injuries in Canada.

In general, if plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Rattle Toys, please do not use them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
