Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Mini Cookies are subject to this recall:

  • Melanie branded Mini Cookies with Caramel Flavor, sold in 17.6 ounce (500 gram) clear plastic packages with a UPC is 4770049082126. Although each package is marked with an expiration date, all dates are affected by this recall.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

According to the FDA, this recall was initiated after routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis by Food Laboratory personnel revealed that the peanut–containing Cookies were distributed in packages that did not reveal the presence of Peanuts.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Mini Cookies and could be allergic to their Peanut ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
