The UK Food Standards Agency (“FSA”) reports the following Gelato products are subject to recall:

  • Remeo Gelato branded Stracciatella Di Bergamo Gelato, sold in 500 ml tubs with a batch/lot code of LO18M22 and a best-before date of 22 October 2019

==> No barcodes, UPCs, EANs or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FSA, this recall was initiated after it was suspected that the Gelato may actually contain Pistachio Ice Cream, a food that contains Pistachio Nuts neither mentioned nor declared on the product label. This means the Gelato is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to Nuts. The company reports this particular batch of Gelato is known to have been sold only in Waitrose Stores.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Gelato products and could be allergic to their Pistachio Nuts ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
