US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Greenbelt Microgreen Salad Recall [US]Greenbelt Greenhouse Ltd., a Lynden, Ontario establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Greenbelt Microgreens branded Microgreens due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination and consequential risk of bacterial infection and illness, all serious health hazards.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Microgreen Salad products are subject to this recall:

  • Greenbelt Microgreens branded Arugula Microgreens, sold in 75 gram clear plastic clamshell containers with best-before dates of 4/24/18 and 4/30/18 with a UPC of 8 90082 00012 4
  • Greenbelt Microgreens branded Broccoli Microgreens, sold in 75 gram clear plastic clamshell containers with best-before dates of 4/24/18 and 4/30/18 with a UPC of 8 90082 00016 2
  • Greenbelt Microgreens branded Fresh Microgreen Mix, sold in 75 gram clear plastic clamshell containers with best-before dates of 4/24/18 and 4/30/18 with a UPC of 8 90082 00041 4
  • Greenbelt Microgreens branded Pea Shoots Microgreens, sold in 100 gram clear plastic clamshell containers with best-before dates of 4/24/18 and 4/30/18 with a UPC of 8 90082 00023 0
  • Greenbelt Microgreens branded Spicy Microgreen Mix, sold in 75 gram clear plastic clamshell containers with best-before dates of 4/24/18 and 4/30/18 with a UPC of 8 90082 00000 1
  • Greenbelt Microgreens branded Sunflower Microgreens, sold in 100 gram clear plastic clamshell containers with best-before dates of 4/24/18 and 4/30/18 with a UPC of 8 90082 00030 8
  • Greenbelt Microgreens branded Sweet & Crunchy Microgreen Mix, sold in 75 gram clear plastic clamshell containers with best-before dates of 4/24/18 and 4/30/18 with a UPC of 8 90082 00006 3

According to the FDA, this recall was initiated after a sampling program by Washington State Department of Agriculture (“WSDA”) found that the Broccoli Microgreen product contained Listeria monocytogenes bacteria.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Microgreen Salad products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Salads to the store where you purchased them for a full refund.
