The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Canned Spinach products are subject to this recall:

  • Happy Harvest Spinach, sold exclusively at ALDI Stores in 13.5 ounce cans with a batch/lot code of A23IX, a best-by date code of January 2021 and a UPC of 041498131289

According to the FDA, McCall Farms, Inc. has recalled certain batch/lots of Happy Harvest Canned Spinach due to the undeclared Peanuts. The recalled Spinach was reportedly sold in Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, Wisconsin and West Virginia.

The product was also available for purchase to ALDI customers in the Atlanta and Chicago areas through the company’s partnership with Instacart, a grocery delivery service.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Canned Spinach products and could be allergic to their Peanut ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
