According to the FSA, Sainsbury’s has recalled the above identified batch/lot of its Sliced Beetroot product sold in jars because the food product may contain Glass fragments. The potential presence of these Glass fragments makes this product unsafe to eat and presents a safety and health risk.

In general, if glass or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household rubbish, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
