Hongkong SunRise Trading Ltd, a Chinese establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Victa branded Cordless Electric Chainsaws due to suspected chain brake guard failure and consequential risk of cutting and/or sawing injuries, laceration and property damage, all serious health and safety hazards.

The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Victa branded Chainsaws are subject to this recall:
- Victa brand 80V Cordless Electric Chainsaws, coloured blue and black with an approximately 46 cm (18 inch) saw and an 80 volt lithium ion battery and sold with a model number of 883017 between 19 July 2016 & 20 April 2017.
- Victa brand 82V Cordless Electric Chainsaws coloured blue & black with an approximately 46 cm (18 inch) saw and an 82 volt lithium ion battery and sold with a model number of 1696787 for Chainsaws beginning 8 November 2016 and a model number of 1687897 for Chainsaws sold beginning 10 November 2016.
==> No barcodes, UPCs, APNs or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the ACCC, in the event of a kickback, the chain brake guard on the recalled Chainsaws may fail and allow the Chainsaw to continue operating. If the chain brake guard fails and the Chainsaw comes in contact with a person’s body it may cause serious injury.
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Electric Chainsaws, please do not use them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund, as follows:
- Owners of the 80V Cordless Electric Chainsaws should immediately stop using the product and contact their Victa dealer for a free repair.
- Owners of the 82V Cordless Electric Chainsaws should immediately stop using the product and contact their Victa dealer or return to Bunnings for a free replacement.
