Canada/Ottawa: Durra brand Mansaf Seasoning Recall [Canada]Phoenicia Group Inc., a St-Laurent, Québec establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Durra brand Mansaf Seasoning due to undeclared Gluten and Sesame, both known allergens, sources of dietary intolerance and possible triggers of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Seasoning products are subject to this recall:

  • Durra brand Mansaf Seasoning, sold in 70 gram (2.4-ounce) predominantly green-coloured pouches with a production date code of PD: 10/05/2017, a best-before date designation of 09/04/2019, a batch/lot code of 03 and a UPC of 6 251136 007096

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CFIA, Phoenicia Group Inc. has recalled the above batch/lots of Durra brand Mansaf Seasoning from the Canadian marketplace because they may contain Sesame and/or Gluten, ingredients not declared on the product label. People with an allergy to Sesame products and/or those who have Celiac disease, GI issues, IBS or other Gluten-related disorders should not consume the recalled Seasoning products identified above.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Mansaf Seasoning products and could be allergic to their Gluten and/or Sesame ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
