According to the ACCC, if the Torch is dropped on a hard surface, the “button” batteries may be released. If this defect occurs and young children gain access to the button batteries and ingest them, they may suffer internal burn injuries that may result in serious illness and even death. In addition, the batteries may pose a choking hazard to young children.

In general, if plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Star Wars branded Toys, please do not use them, give them to your child to play with or store the Toys near to them to permit access. Instead, kindly return the product to the Big W store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Small “button” batteries pose special ingestion risks to small children. Devices using them in the home or school should be closely examined and monitored for any breakage or other unintended access that could allow these batteries to be swallowed or otherwise ingested.
