Lotte brand Choco Pie Recall [Canada]

Canada/Ottawa: The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) recalls certain batch/lots of Lotte brand Choco Pies – Green Tea flavour due to undeclared Almond Nuts, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention. An earlier recall for a different but related Lotte branded food product was initiated by Six Fortune Enterprise Co. Ltd., a Burnaby, British Columbia establishment.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Snack Foods are subject to this recall:

  • Lotte Choco Pie – Green Tea, sold in 336 gram packages, affected batch/lots: all codes where Almond Nuts are not declared on the label with a UPC of 801062 006205

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

According to the CFIA, Canda Six Fortune Enterprise Co. Ltd. had recalled certain batch/lots of Paldo brand Seaweed Snack products and Lotte brand Kancho Choco Biscuits from the marketplace because they may contain Peanuts, an ingredient not declared on the products’ label. This notification expands this original recall to encompass the company’s Lotte brand Choco Pies – Green Tea flavour product. People with an allergy to Almond Nuts should not consume the recalled Snack Foods identified above.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these Lotte brand Choco Pies and could be allergic to their Almond Nut ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
