The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Mixed Seaweed products are subject to this recall:

  • The Whole Foodies branded Sea Vegetables Mixed Seaweed, sold in 170 gram plastic cello bags with an expiry date of 30 January 2019

==> No barcodes, UPCs, APNs or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the ACCC, this recall was initiated due to the level of Arsenic suspected as being above the permitted level in Australia’s Food Standards Code. In general, food products that contain excessive levels of Arsenic may cause serious illness if consumed, ranging from an increased risk of Cancer, Liver Disease, Coma and even Death.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled The Whole Foodies Sea Vegetables Mixed Seaweed products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
