The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Raw Beef products are subject to this recall:

  • USDA Select or Higher Beef six (6) ounce Top Sirloin Steak Mechanically Tenderized, sold in approximate 20-pound boxes with a case code 45966
  • USDA Select or Higher Beef six (6) ounce USDA Select or Higher Beef Eight (8) ounce Top Sirloin Steak Mechanically Tenderized, sold in approximate 30-pound boxes with a case code 45968

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled foods can be found on the Web site above.

According to the USDA, the products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 33861” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to restaurant locations US nationwide.

The problem was discovered when Standard Meat Company was notified by its supplier, who shipped the seasoning, of a seasoning recall due to Salmonella contamination. Standard Meat Company uses this seasoning product to formulate marinade that is injected into the top sirloin steaks.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Raw Beef products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
