US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Oregon Food Bank Nutritional Yeast Recall [US]Oregon Food Bank, a Portland, Oregon establishment, recalls an estimated 1,219 pounds of Nutritional Yeast, due to suspected cross-contamination with two other foodstuffs that have been previously recalled, one for possible rodent fecal contamination and the other for suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination, all serious health and safety hazards. The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Nutritional Yeast products are subject to this recall:

  • Oregon Food Bank Nutritional Yeast, sold in one (1) pound plastic poly film bags with a twist-type closure, or resealable pouches.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, the recalled Nutritional Yeast products were distributed in Oregon and Clark County, Washington through the Oregon Food Bank Network of regional food banks and participating food pantries. The product was distributed in one (1) pound plastic poly film bags with a twist-type closure or resealable pouches. All Nutritional Yeast products distributed in the described packaging between November 1, 2017 and March 16, 2018 are included in this recall.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Nutritional Yeast products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Nutritional Yeast to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
