US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Trader Joe's brand Chocolate Chip Cookie Recall [US]Chris’s Cookies, a Teterboro, New Jersey establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Trader Joe’s Chocolate Chip Cookies due to suspected mislabeling, incorrect Cookies and consequential undeclared Peanuts, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Chocolate Chip Cookies are subject to this recall:

  • Trader Joe’s Chocolate Chip Cookies, sold in 12 ounce (340 gram) bags, a batch/lot designation of 2060, sell-by date codes of 031218 through 031818 with a barcode/UPC of 0068 0752.

According to the FDA, this recall was initiated after it was discovered that a bag labeled as Trader Joe’s Chocolate Chip Cookies instead contained Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Cookies. While there is a warning statement on the label that the product may contain traces of peanuts, the word, “peanuts” is not listed as an ingredient.

The recalled Cookies were distributed in Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maine, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Northern Virginia, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington DC.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Trader Joe’s Chocolate Chip Cookie and could be allergic to their Peanut ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
