Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Sausage products are subject to this recall:

  • Jalapeño Cheddar Smoked Sausages, sold in plastic-wrapped plastic consisting of six (6) Sausages weighing a total of 14-ounces with a best-by date 04/04/2018 and a batch/lot designation of either 1001124486 or 1001124487

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Sausages can be found on the Web site above.

According to the USDA, the Sausages subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 34224” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations US nationwide. The problem was discovered after Johnsonville received three (3) consumer complaints for pieces of hard, green plastic identified in the Sausage product.

If general, plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Sausages, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
