Canada/Ottawa: Free-Shine Silicone-Free Spray Recall [Canada]Auto-Chem Inc., a Le Gardeur, Quebec establishment, recalls an estimated 2,174 spray bottles Free-Shine Silicone-Free Dressing Spray for Plastic and Rubber due to suspected failure to meet Canadian labelling requirements for chemical consumer products as set out in the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act (“CCPSA”) and consequential risk of unintentional exposure to hazardous chemicals, illness, injury and death, all serious health and safety hazards. Health Canada/Santé Canada (“HCSC”) reports the following Dressing Chemical products are subject to this recall:

  • Auto-Chem brand Free-Shine Silicone-Free Dressing for Plastic and Rubber, sold in 500 ml red spray bottles with a product code of 705-016 and a UPC of 627108705165
  • Auto-Chem brand Free-Shine Silicone-Free Dressing for Plastic and Rubber, sold in 1 litre red spray bottles with a product code of 705-032 and a UPC of 627108705325

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to Health Canada, its sampling and evaluation program has determined that the recalled Dressing Chemical products do not meet the labelling requirements for chemical consumer products as set out in the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act (“CCPSA”).

Specifically, the recalled products do not have proper consumer chemical hazard labelling required by the Consumer Chemicals and Containers Regulations, 2001 under the CCPSA. Improper labelling could result in unintentional exposure to these products and lead to serious illness, injury or death.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Dressing Chemical products, please do not use them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

Please note: disposal of this product must be in accordance with local municipal hazardous waste requirements to protect your personal safety, the local drinking water supply and the ecosystem. Contact the relevant government authorities for instructions on the required method in your community.
