Canada/Ottawa: Tarini Brothers Smoked Rainbow Trout Recall [Canada]Tarini Brothers Meat and Fish Market, a Sudbury, Ontario establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Smoked Rainbow Trout Fish products manufactured by Tarini Brothers Meat and Fish Market due to suspected risk of Clostridium botulinum contamination and consequential risk of bacterial infection and illness, all serious health hazards. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Rainbow Trout Fish are subject to this recall:

  • Smoked Rainbow Trout, sold in variable portion sizes; affected dates: all packed-on date codes up to and including 15.02.18 with a UPC that starts with 020270
  • Cajun Smoked Rainbow Trout, sold in variable portion sizes; affected dates: all packed-on date codes up to and including 15.02.18 with a UPC that starts with 020271
  • LP (“Lemon Pepper”) Smoked Rainbow Trout, sold in variable portion sizes; affected dates: all packed-on date codes up to and including 15.02.18 with a UPC that starts with 020272
  • Dill Smoked Rainbow Trout, sold in variable portion sizes; affected dates: all packed-on date codes up to and including 15.02.18 with a UPC that starts with 020273

According to the CFIA, Tarini Brothers Meat and Fish Market has recalled certain batch/lots of Smoked Rainbow Trout products from the Canadian marketplace because they may permit the growth of Clostridium botulinum.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Smoked Rainbow Trout Fish products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
