Canada/Ottawa: No Name brand Popping Corn Recall [Canada]Loblaw Companies Limited, a Brampton, Ontario establishment, expands its existing recall for certain batch/lots of No Name brand Popping Corn to include an additional batch/lot of the same Popping Corn sold in a different size. The original recall was initiated due to suspected Insect fragment contamination and consequential risk of bacterial contamination, choking, oral injury, internal ingestion and GI tract laceration damage, a serious health hazard. Additional information:
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Popping Corn products are subject to this recall:

  • No Name brand Popping Corn, sold in two (2) kilogram bags with a product batch/lot code of BB 2018/SE/28 and a UPC of 0 60383 12993 4

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

According to the CFIA, Loblaw Companies Limited has recalled certain batch/lots of No Name brand Popping Corn due to suspected risk of Insect fragment contamination.

In general, if Insect fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Popping Corn, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
