US/Silver Spring: La Pasta Inc., a Silver Spring, Maryland establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of private label Potato Gnocchi manufactured for Heinen’s Supermarkets due to undeclared Milk, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention. The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Potato Gnocchi products are subject to this recall:

• Heinen’s branded Potato Gnocchi, sold in 9-ounce clear film plastic trays measuring approximately 8 by 6 by 1-3/4 inches with the following batch/lot numbers:
  • 1119-1120
  • 1121-1122
  • 1132-1133
  • 2016-2017
  • 2027-2028
  • 2034-2035
  • 2038-2039
  • 2130-2131
  • 2139-2140
  • 2221-2222
  • 2231-2232

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, this recall was initiated after a consumer reported feeling ill after consuming the Heinen’s Potato Gnocchi. Company officials compared packaging with the approved recipe and confirmed that above batch/lots did, in fact, contain Milk ingredient as part of the recipe formula but was not declared on the label.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Potato Gnocchi products and could be allergic to their Milk ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
