The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Protein Bars are subject to this recall:

  • Fermented Greek Yogurt Proteins+ Cherry Almond Vanilla Bars, sold in 12 by 55 gram cartons with a batch/lot of CV010518
  • Fermented Greek Yogurt Proteins+ Cinnamon Pecan Bars, sold in 12 by 55 gram cartons with a batch/lot of CP010518

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CFIA, Genuine Health has recalled certain batch/lots of Genuine Health brand Protein Bars due to suspected risk of metal fragment contamination.

In general, if plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
