The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Vegan Buffalo Chicken Bite products are subject to this recall:

  • Whole Foods Market Vegan Buffalo Chicken Bites, sold in 9-ounce containers labeled Whole Foods Market Vegan Buffalo Chicken Bites with an expiration date of 2/27/2018 and a UPC of 636910500059. They were sold at the following Whole Foods Market stores:
    • 1255 Raritan Road, Clark, NJ
    • 113 Route 9 South, Marlboro, NJ
    • 1933 State Road 35, Wall, NJ
    • 235 Prospect Avenue, West Orange, NJ
    • 238 Bedford Ave, Brooklyn, NY
    • 120 New Moriches Road, Lake Grove, NY
    • 4 Union Square South, New York, NY
    • 95 E Houston Street, New York, NY
    • 226 East 57th Street, New York, NY
    • 250 7th Avenue, New York, NY
    • 808 Columbus Avenue, New York, NY
    • 1095 Avenue of the Americas, New York, NY
    • 1551 3rd Avenue, New York, NY

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, Sunneen Health Foods has recalled the mislabeled Whole Foods Market Vegan Buffalo Chicken Bites sold at 13 Whole Foods Market stores in New York and New Jersey because the products contain Pecan Nuts, an ingredient not listed on the product label. The issue was discovered at the distribution center.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Chicken products and could be allergic to their Pecan Nut ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
